DREAMY WOODLAND WEDDING INSPIRATION

As seen on WEDDING LOVENY BLOG

How does a wedding planner connect with a photographer (in our case with many and amazing ones)? How do all the beautiful artful details, from grand to delicate, come together to create and navigate through a couple's wedding vision, and how does a large band of creatives, outstanding vendors, and yours truly spend two days on a mountain resort? The answer is, of course, The City Owl, the wedding photography workshop hosted by my dear friend and super talented fine art wedding photographer Sotiris Tsakanikas.

Our "home" for these two days was Apolimeni Petra, a mountain retreat perched in the woods of Taxiarhis (a picture-perfect village in Poligyros). Think pretty and cozy mountain wood cabins, 20 acres of wonderfully trimmed pine and oak corseted land, fireplaces, glass rooftops, and the best team and crews on board.

For the ceremony, my team envisioned a woodlot rite drenched in soft autumnal and alpine touches, where we staged a lush canopy, wooden pews, and an aisle made of lush floral installations.

Our wedding reception table was set in the heart of the forest amidst thick pines and oak trees. We wished to create an intimate celebration, where timberland cedars and fallen leaves interplay with deep greens, amber and gold hues, clean lines and the warmth of Persian nappery. We opted for two wedding cakes, one styled with a velvet amber ribbon and golden wax seal and the second in tiny pinecones and greenery. Our stationery including invitations, place cards, and menus involved fine art calligraphy and all shades of green watercolor design to match the evergreen landscape, while our tableware was kept minimal and delicate infused with bottle green velvet favor envelopes secured with golden wax seals.

A solid velvet tapistry armchair was set next to our cozy welcome table adorned with beautiful sugary treats and green frosted cupcakes, an array of splendid local cheese and dried fruit, as well as smaller decorative pieces that added to the glow.

A string of lights was hung over the reception table that was festooned with a massive installation of blooms in lieu of table runner. Garden roses, lisianthus, amaranthus, eryngium, penny gums, ruscus, silver brunia, and handsome arching stems enhanced the shape of our design and added an extra flourish. The attractive feathery leaves on long curved stems added a delicate texture to all floral arrangements including the bridal bouquet, canopy, and runner. There was so much inspiration everywhere every moment so and impromptu use of our wooden gardener's ladder rendered a few more creative shots. Our photographers literally wouldn't stop clicking and as we paused to watch the shootings our smiles widened.
